DiaBond
DiaBond Engineered Diamond Products
DiaBond is a family of engineered diamond powders specially designed to improve bonding in metallic matrices, including nickel, cobalt, copper, and aluminum-based binders.
Applications include metal-bond diamond wheels, diamond compacts and cermet, diamond hard facing products, high conductivity substrates, and other thermal and abrasive products.
DiaBond powders are comprised of diamond grains that have been encapsulated with a 1-20 micron coating, selected from cobalt, nickel, chromium, chromium carbide, tungsten, tungsten carbide, copper, aluminum, silicon, or rhenium. These coated diamond powders typically show a three-fold increase in diamond retention, extending life and increasing thermal conductivity and strength of diamond compacts made using Powdermet’s engineered diamond particles.
DiaBond powders are engineered using Powdermet’s patented fluidized bed chemical vapor deposition technology. DiaBond powders can be produced in grit sizes ranging from micron-sized diamond dust to 30 grit diamond abrasives.
Powdermet offers a wider range of coated diamond powders than our competitors and we are the only manufacturer of rhenium-coated diamond powders specifically designed for nickel and cobalt containing metal binders.
