Powdermet’s 54,000 sq ft manufacturing and R&D center was the former TRW Materials Research Center. The materials research and manufacturing center includes an 18,000 sq ft high bay manufacturing building, and a 36,000 sq ft, three floor R&D center with over 26 individual labs, including a high temperature thermal analysis and XRD lab, a furnace/sintering lab, a foam processing lab, and a refractory metals lab.
Powdermet recently opened a 24,000 sq ft “Nanomaterials Research Center”, with fully remodeled two floors of the 36,000 sq. ft. Research Center, along with the fully occupied 18,000 sq. ft. manufacturing plant. In addition, the initial operational status of our new microcomposite deformation processing facility is in place. The company has recently installed a 15” Mino-Battista 300 ton hot rolling mill with capabilities of constrained rolling of sheet and plate ranging from 20 mils to 4” in thickness in widths up to 14”. The now operational hot rolling facility supports development of micro/nanocomposite metals, and represents a significant new capability to the advanced metallic composites industry.
